Dear Families, Partners, and all Citizens of North Dakota,

As we begin another exciting school year, I am thrilled to welcome you all back. It is a time filled with anticipation and enthusiasm as we look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

At North Dakota Vision Services/School for the Blind, our commitment to being responsive to the needs of those we serve and providing the highest quality service is of utmost importance. The reputation of our organization, as well as the reputation of each individual within it, is built on trust. We strive to earn and maintain that trust every day.

To illustrate who we are and what we stand for, we recently commissioned a mural on one of our buildings. This mural proudly features North Dakota themes,Students and the artist interacting with the mural, touching it and looking at it up close. including the prairie rose and the state bird, the meadowlark. A rainbow often graces the beautiful open skies in our state. The magnifier which enlarges the word "empower" symbolizes our mission. A figure of a person walking with a cane represents the crucial life skills and independence we teach every day. The mural was and is all about telling our story and reminding those in our community and across the state of who we are and how we serve.

Images play a crucial role in shaping positive perspectives and building a strong, trustworthy reputation. We are proud of the work we do with children and adults who experience low vision or blindness as well as the impact we have in our community.

Thank you for your continued support and trust in North Dakota Vision Services/School for the Blind. Please come and see our new mural. Come and visit the school that we are so proud of. Good things happen here, and we want to share those things with all of you.

Sincerely,

Paul Olson
