Inservice Training

North Dakota Vision Services/School for the Blind offers inservice training for teachers, paraprofessionals, parents, and others working with persons with visual impairments. Training may focus on any aspect of service to individuals with visual impairments, with a particular emphasis on the expanded core curriculum identified in The National Agenda for the Education of Children and Youths with Visual Impairments, Including Those with Multiple Disabilities.

This expanded core curriculum includes:

  • compensatory or functional academic skills such as braille reading and writing
  • orientation and mobility
  • social interaction skills
  • independent living skills
  • recreation and leisure skills
  • career education
  • technology
  • visual efficiency skills

This training may be offered at NDVS/SB center base in Grand Forks or in schools, job sites, homes, or workshops throughout the state.
